He's his own comedian too, yuk yuk

This week Dubyuh played the yukster by naming his own assistant and Homeland Security adviser, Fran Townsend, to lead his own internal inquiry into his own administration's much-criticized federal response to Hurricane Katrina.

Townsend will look at "what went right, what went wrong and lessons learned from the federal response to Hurricane Katrina," said spokesman Trent Duffy, who spoke as Bush prepared to make his fifth trip to the disaster zone.

A memo from White House chief of staff Andrew Card directed government departments and agencies to designate by Tuesday one senior official to be the coordinator to work with Townsend for their specific agency.

Well ain't that precious?

The man claims to work hard. He claims he can do two things at the same time. In Dubyuh talk, that means catapulting the propaganda* while investigating the propaganda -- like an Air Force 1 fly-over of Mississippi to investigate the drowning of New Orleans.

I have a better idea: Let Dubyuh investigate Katrina just like we let Bill investigate Monica -- with an independent prosecutor handpicked by senators of the opposing party. Then give that prosecutor unlimited time, unlimited investigative boundaries and an unlimited budget.

As the Holier Than Thou Church of Republicanism preached to us for eight years: If we don't root out immorality in the White House, what message are we sending the children?

More on Townsend:
* "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
